The Utility Engineering Division provides engineering-based customer service to all existing and new commercial customers and provides internal engineering services to the utilities operation group. This division actively administers and monitors all aspects of the development and construction of commercial projects, multi-family residential projects, and new subdivisions. They also review and approve project plans, initiate and process commercial service agreements, inspect construction, and oversee the process of the City's ownership and operation of the newly constructed utility facilities. Commercial tenant construction (i.e. existing buildings) and interceptors for grease, hair, lint, etc. are also approved by this division.
Utility Engineering locates, identifies and marks all of the utility systems underground drinking water, wastewater (sanitary sewer), and reclaimed water assets prior to any construction contractor digging into the ground. This activity is required by the Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act per Chapter 556, Florida statutes.
