Proposed rate increase for customers

Friday 9 August Proposed rate increase for customers

The Port St. Lucie City Council will consider changes, including proposed increases, to various utility fees, rates, and charges during upcoming public meetings. If adopted, these would become effective October 1, 2024.

In accordance with the comprehensive rate studies conducted by the City's rate consultant, a 5.5% increase is proposed for water use rates (sewer rates are not slated to increase). This adjustment results in an increase of $1.86 per month to the average water/sewer customer (using 5,000 gallons per month) to bring the average residential bill from $93.17 to $95.03.

See sample average residential bill below:

These proposed increases would help finance with the rising operational costs as well as funding capital improvement projects.

Utility Systems Director Kevin Matyjaszek presented the proposed rate increase at the City Council Summer Workshop on July 24.

The Public Meetings to discuss the proposed rate increases will be held on Monday, September 9 at 1 p.m. and Monday, September 23 at 6 p.m., and will be located at City Hall 121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd., Bldg. A, Port St. Lucie, FL 34984.
