How will a power outage affect my service?

City water customers: No effect. Our water treatment facilities will run on generator power.

Residents on well: Effect. Your pump runs on electricity and without it, water can not be pumped into the home.

City sewer customers: Effect. The low-pressure wastewater disposal system needs electricity to operate.

We recommend that you conserve water during a power outage, not because there will be a shortage, but because water going down the drain or toilet will quickly fill up your sewer system. Without power, the tank will not be able to pump the wastewater down. Please avoid taking long showers and running the dishwasher and washing machine, an only flush the toilet when absolutely necessary.
