Lunch and Learn “extremely valuable”

Tuesday 5 April Lunch and Learn “extremely valuable”

Utility Systems hosted its first Lunch & Learn event in this quarterly series at the Port St. Lucie Community Center on March 25. The first topic, “Understanding Your Bill,” was led by Utility Billing & Connection Support Manager Gina Linsley, who broke down the utility bill line by line. 19 attendees followed along with a sample bill as Gina explained how a water meter is read, how customers are charged, and how leaks can be detected. She supplied resource materials, answered questions, and addressed concerns.

Feedback showed that 14 out of 16 people surveyed said Gina’s presentation was either “extremely valuable” or “very valuable,” and 15 out of 16 people said Gina was “extremely knowledgeable” or “very knowledgeable.” A link to the video of the presentation will be posted on utility.cityofpsl.com and shared with customers in the next customer e-newsletter.

South State Bank is sponsoring the event series, which continues on April 22 with “Understanding the Wastewater Collection System and Treatment Process.” A panel of experts will explain, discuss, and answer questions about the 1,100 miles of sewer main that collect wastewater and send it to one of the City’s two treatment plants.

On July 15, the topic will be “Understanding the Water Treatment and Distribution Process.” The last event in the series, to take place on October 14, will focus on the hazards of fats, oil, and grease (FOG) in the sewer system.
