Kids lean into summer learning

Friday 9 July Kids lean into summer learning

From tots to preteens, summer campers are loving what they’re learning about Utility Systems! The 4 year-olds at Port St. Lucie’s Summer Camp learned about water conservation and how they can help save water at home by turning the faucet off when they brush their teeth. They even received their very own copy of Water Hugs, a book published by Utility Systems that tells the story of one little girl’s love of the water.

Over at Minsky Gym, the preteens talked trash and how it shouldn’t be flushed down the toilet. They simulated a pipe clog, conducted a flush test, and even designed their own microorganisms to help treat the wastewater.

Utility Marketing Coordinator Jenny Tomes has presented to more than 100 campers this summer about the importance of water conservation and protecting both our water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Utility Systems’ education program is an opportunity to bring awareness.
