The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) of the Treasure Coast honored Utility Marketing Coordinator Jenny Tomes, APR with an Award of Distinction for the Little Lessons Online Video Library. During the global pandemic, this online video library offered a safe and socially-distanced alternative to presenting to students in the classroom. This was also an opportunity for Utility Systems to further extend the reach of its Education Program, which uses interactive lessons and original content to teach kids about the water and wastewater industry.

The library of 14 videos covers a wide variety of topics from water conservation to how microorganisms help treat wastewater. To date, the videos have been used by educators in St. Lucie County more than 230 times and viewed collectively nearly 1,100 times. Teachers gave extremely positive feedback on this free resource. One teacher wrote, “this is awesome, we appreciate all of your support during these tough times.”

Utility Systems knows that education and outreach is an opportunity to bring awareness to the many ways we all can help keep our environment thriving. Children can lead the way when they understand how their actions can impact and influence those around them. It is an honor to be recognized by the FPRA for this particular component of the Utility Systems Education Program.

Conducted annually, the Image Awards competition provides public relations practitioners an excellent platform to be recognized in their home markets for their outstanding public relations tools and programs.
