What Not to Flush

Flush only toilet paper and human waste.

In order to protect your low-pressure wastewater disposal system and gravity system, and to help prevent your house plumbing lines from clogging, please do not flush or throw the following items down the drain:

  • automotive fluid
  • baby wipes, "flushable" wipes, makeup remover wipes
  • band-aids, bandages, and wrappings
  • cigarette butts
  • coffee grounds
  • condoms and contraceptives
  • dental floss
  • disposable diapers
  • dryer sheets
  • ear swabs and cotton balls
  • excessive grease, fats, and oils
  • facial tissue and paper towels
  • feminine hygiene materials and applicators
  • hair
  • inorganic materials that cannot be treated biologically
  • medication
  • mopping pads and toilet scrubbing pads
  • pet waste and kitty litter
  • paints, solvents, sealants, and thinners
  • poisons and hazardous waste
  • plastic of any kind
