Cheers to Drinking Water Week

Friday 29 April Cheers to Drinking Water Week

For more than 40 years the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and its members have used Drinking Water Week as a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. Since 1994 Port St. Lucie Utility Systems has provided safe, great-tasting drinking water to this City. Now serving nearly 86,000 customers, this level of excellence would not be possible without the commitment of our incredible Utility Systems staff.

Our three water treatment plants have the capacity to produce over 41 million gallons of water per day. Our drinking water is tested more frequently than bottled water and is continuously monitored and treated according to federal standards. Bottled water costs an average of $4.50 per gallon, compared to fractions of a penny for water from your tap. That makes your tap water a thousand times less expensive than bottled water.

Not all plastic water bottles make it to the recycling bin. Some are thrown away and end up in the landfill where it takes years for them to break down. Plastic bottles are also a major source of pollution. So, turn on the faucet and tap in! It is less expensive and better for the environment.

Celebrate our commitment to water, not only for the first week in May, but every day!

Take a virtual tour of the James E. Anderson Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant.
