Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day celebrated virtually

Friday 7 May Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day celebrated virtually

Port St. Lucie Utility Systems (PSLUS) facilitated its first virtual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day in conjunction with the nationwide event on April 22. Prior to the pandemic, PSLUS employees were invited to bring their child to work for a fun day of activities that included facility tours, classrooms lessons, crafts and experiments.

This year, the 13 kids who participated in our virtual version of the event received an activity bag filled with educational resources and materials. They were able to choose which topics they wanted to learn more about, then watch the accompanying video online and complete the hands-on activity. Topics ranged from understanding the water cycle to how microorganisms help treat wastewater. They could also take virtual tours of both the water and wastewater treatment plants.

Year after year, this event is a great opportunity to educate our children on the importance of our PSLUS staff and their responsibilities to this community. And perhaps, they’ll be inspired to work here one day!
